Das Wichtigste in Kürze

The Short Version

1. Visiting This Website

When you visit this website, our hosting provider (STRATO, Germany) processes technically necessary server log data: IP address, date and time of access, page requested, browser identifier. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure, stable operation). Log data is not merged with other data and is deleted according to the host's standard retention periods. This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics services.

2. Data Processing in the App

Local storage: Everything you record — events, meals, symptoms, health values, recipes, photos and voice notes — is stored on your device (encrypted at rest via iOS file protection). Your entries are not transmitted automatically to us or to third parties (for the optional iCloud sync see below); the technical connections the app makes and what is sent are listed in section 3.

iCloud sync (optional): iCloud sync is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, the app keeps your entries, medication, alarms, supplies and package sizes, symptoms, recipes, dashboards with their goals and reports, brand watch lists, contacts for your doctors, template markers and settings in step across your devices that use the same Apple Account. To do this, they are stored in your private iCloud area, which belongs to your Apple Account. Credentials, permissions and the app's runtime state are not synced; drafts stay on the device. The content of your entries is stored encrypted (CloudKit encryption); individual technical fields are protected only by Apple's transport and at-rest encryption. This is not an end-to-end guarantee. Photos and voice notes are not synced in this version and stay on the device. Sync transfers the app's entries and settings, not the data held in Apple Health itself. Entries you save from Apple Health values, or write to Apple Health, are part of the iCloud copy as entries of the app. The app does not send this data to us or to third parties; Apple provides and operates iCloud (see Apple's terms and privacy information). A backup is created on your device before sync starts. If you turn sync off, your data stays on the device; copies already in iCloud remain in your iCloud account until you delete them there. Independently of sync, iOS may include the app's data in an iCloud device backup if you have enabled that in iOS Settings. iCloud sync is a beta feature. We tested it with automated tests and in the simulator, but not with two real devices at the same time. Do not change the same information on two devices at once; in a conflict the most recently saved change wins. Sync is off on the Mac.

Apple Health: If you allow the integration, the app reads or writes health data via Apple HealthKit — on your device and only within the permissions you grant. Values read are only used to pre-fill the input form; they become an entry of the app only when you save them. You can revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

Deletion: You delete your entries on the device by removing them in the app or uninstalling the app. Data held on our server (section 3) is not deleted automatically by this; your rights under section 4 apply to it, via the contact address given there. You can export your data from within the app.

3. Online Connections of the App

The app makes the following connections. Unless stated otherwise, this only happens when you actively use the feature concerned. We do not use analytics or advertising services. The data that arises is tied to technical identifiers (session identifier, an identifier derived from your device, or an identifier that is the same on all devices of your iCloud account) — not to your real name, your Apple ID or your email address; we do not intend to trace it back to you as a real person. It is therefore pseudonymous, but not anonymous.

4. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). Since your entries live on your device (and, with iCloud sync turned on, additionally in your iCloud account, which you manage with Apple yourself), you exercise these rights for them directly yourself; for the server-side data listed in section 3 and everything else, contact us at martin@sparetimer.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

5. Changes

We update this policy when features of the app or this website change. The version published here applies.
